Moor Kulambu / Buttermilk Gravy |
Cooking is not an easy job.Right from cutting vegetables till washing the dishes it is one heck of a process.Preparing both breakfast and lunch in the morning is no piece of cake.Now a days women leave early to work and hence they have no time to cook or eat. That's when this yummy Buttermilk gravy comes to your rescue.This gravy is really quick to prepare and it tastes great with dosa, chappathi and you can have this for lunch with a bowl of hot rice.
South Indian Dishes are known for their spicy and tangy nature and we tend to use a lot of spices.This Buttermilk gravy has very simple ingredients which can be cooked within just 20 mins.
Preparation time : 10 min
Cooking time : 5- 10 min
Serves : 4
Ingredients
- Buttermilk - 1 cup / 300 ml or Plain Yogurt - 150 ml
- Onion - 1 large
- Tomato - 2 large
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves - 4 to 5
- Coconut oil / Any oil - 3 tblsp
- Salt to taste
To grind
- 1/2 spoon black mustard seeds
- 1/4 Fenugreek seeds
- 1 spoon cumin seeds
- a small piece of ginger
- 4 large green green chillies
- 1 spoon coriander seeds
- 2 tblsp channa dal
- 2 tblsp toor dal
- 4 tblsp of grated coconut

Pour the mixture into the pan and let them simmer gently in low flame until bubble started appearing on the top of the pan.This takes about 8 - 10 mins. Do not boil them in high heat as the curd will start separating.
