Choco-coffee Slices - Chocolate marie biscuit/graham cracker recipe

Chocolate is a divine ingredient. We all love chocolate in most of the desserts. Chocolate chip cookies are loved by kids and it is found ready in stores. What if you can make something different with chocolates and crackers / marie biscuits which makes you go yummmm.

This recipe is one of my suddenly discovered recipes at home and this turned out to be great for the whole family. The recipe requires minimum ingredients and you can surprise your guests with this yummy desert. Ok moving on to the recipe.

Preparation time : 5 min

Cooking time : 15 min

Serves: 3- 4 people

Ingredients:

Graham cracker / marie biscuits – 12
Unsweetened Cocoa Powder – 2 tblsp
Unsalted Butter – 50 gms at room temperature
Milk   –  100ml
Instant Coffee powder / pure ground ready- to- use coffee powder   –  ½ tblsp
Granulated white sugar / Castor Sugar   –  6 tblsp or more if you are a sweet tooth.

Preparing the hot coffee to dip the crackers
Boil 50 ml of milk and let it cool until it is lukewarm.Melt a tsp of butter and add it to the milk.Mix until the butter is well blended with the milk.Be sure that the milk is cooled completely. If the crackers are dipped in hot milk, then they will get dissolved in and becomes mushy.
Take a small bowl and mix ½ tblsp of coffee powder, 2 tblsp sugar and the cooled milk. Keep stirring until the sugar dissolves completely .The mixture must be slightly creamy but not too watery. Now the coffee mixture is ready to use.
Take a cracker and dip it gently on both sides completely in the coffee mixture prepared above. Shake the cracker very slowly to prevent dripping of excess milk if any.
Now place the cracker into an empty plate. Repeat the same procedure for five more crackers and stack them one above the other uniformly. Care has to be taken while placing them. If you press it very hard, the crackers tend to break as they are very moist.
Repeat the same procedure for another stack of six crackers . Let them set for a minute or two.

Preparing the chocolate cream

-       Take another small bowl and mix 2 tblsp of cocoa powder, ,4 tblsp of powdered sugar and 25 ml of milk. Melt the remaining butter (about 45 gms) .Add to the milk mixture.Mix them until all the ingredients dissolve completely in the milk.
-       Add the remaining milk slowly and start whisking until a thick chocolate cream is formed. Too much milk must not be added as this will make the cream very watery.
Apply the cocoa cream on all sides of the stacked crackers and place them in an air tight container.
Put them in the freezer for about 10 mins or refrigerate them for 15 - 20 mins or more.

Take the crackers from the freezer and place them on a plate.
Just before serving, grate a small piece of cold dark chocolate or take some cocoa powder and sprinkle it gently over the top.
Now take a knife and cut the stacks into thin slices.

Your Choco-Coffee Slices are ready to eat. Bon Appétit :) . Let me know what you guys think of the recipe in the comment section.
