Parupu thogayal /Coconut chutney with spicy lentils

Lentils are rich in protein and dietary fiber .When lentils are combined with coconut ,they give a very crunchy nutty flavor.

This chutney is very easy to make as it needs very few ingredients. You can serve it with a bowl of steaming hot rice, idly, dosa or roti.

Classic Mashed Potato - A dip made with the goodness of potato

Mashed potato  with tortilla chips

Mashed potato dip is one of the yummiest dips I have ever tasted. It is insanely easy to make and come in handy if you are having an impromptu party. It is great with tortilla chips but I have also tried this with a bowl of hot rice and you will be surprised by how well it goes..I have tested many versions of this dip and this is so far my personal best in terms of consistency and taste.

Vathakulambu - South Indian Tamarind Curry

Vathakulambu (or)Tamarind curry is a very popular gravy dish in Southern parts of India especially Tamil Nadu.It is known for its tangy spicy taste. There are different versions of it with or without coconut. This is a typical Iyer style version of Vathakulambu without coconut.I made potato roast as a side dish because vathakulambu and potato roast with rice are the best known combo.

You can make this curry and store up to 3-4 days in the refrigerator. You can also add any kind of vegetables you like.I have tried the same recipe with okra, potato, dried manathakkali, dried sundakai etc.
